CricketSmashZooBirthday Odd Day
At 1.30 today Izabel reported having an uncontrollable urge to stand on her head and take a nap. That is when she was born and when she was born she was upside down and asleep. That was our first clue.
She is now 8.
Seamus' hat had a quick tour of the fair. He saw the rabbits, cattle, poultry, turned around when he saw the goats, and pet a llama. He was very excited about the cricket race and put his name in the mix. He is usually so interested in insects but when it came time to take the lid off of his cricket he was so excited to do so he tapped the lid back down - on the cricket. They gave him a fresh one to take home. We now have a pet cricket, named cricket. I suggested Douglas for the county fair; Seamus said no. Izabel suggested Chalk; no one could figure out why. They were once prized pets in China and according to the info sheet one pellet of dog food can last them a couple of weeks. Let's hope Cricket likes ferret food.
Seamus checking out Izabel's entry
The entire bottom shelf is Izabel's the other shelves are fellow cloverbuds. They do projects but do not compete, they participate until they are in the full 4-H.
They actually have a weed display - My mother and I decided we knew how to label them: pain in the butt, pain in my a**, never get rid of, and don't even talk to me about it...
Getting geared up for the big race.
Notice the theme - he really loves looking at his new friend.
Izabel's camp wrapped up with an animal show and performance by the kids. Halfway through the show Seamus took the camera and proceeded to take 200 photos. It is interesting to see what he focuses on; we have lots of pictures of the sky, the ground and peoples bottoms. Some of the photos came out really well, especially those of Izabel.
The kids enjoying the show.
This is where Seamus takes the camera. The following is a photo essay Seamus' perspective on the zoo camp experience.
If you saw how hard he was pushing the trigger button you would be making the same face.
The nice lady sitting next to us.
Yeah we let him in with the lions...or this is the picture in the elevator.
