Mimi and Dottie

Seamus and Hat reading about the endangered elephant and how to help
The Denver Zoo purchased its first elephant by local school children collecting pennies.  The elephant's name was Cookie and there is a picture of her in the current elephant house at the zoo.  The zoo is building a new habitat for the elephants - and more - that will give them the capability to house a bull.  Not many zoos have that capability.  Currently they have 2 elephants named Mimi and Dolly.  We have visited with them many times.  They are always a favorite.  The zoo even displays paintings the two have composed.  We have seen them getting foot treatments and supplements for their joints.
So now the kids are collecting pennies to help the zoo build this new exhibit.  They have 'trunks' that they are filling with pennies to help out.  Not a bad activity to help out and give back to the zoo since we have gone  there almost once a month since Izabel was 6 months old.
Izabel will be attending zoo camp in August too!

BTW Not Mimi nor Dottie - but all elephants leave an impression

I think this ride will be the highlight of Seamus' summer.

This is one of Seamus' favorite songs along with Get Your Sparkle on from Barbi....
